2. Troubleshooting
************************************************************************
I HAVE A PREVIOUS VERSION OF MULTIMEDIA ORGANIZER:
To prevent potential difficulties when running the program you need to uninstall
any previous versions of Multimedia Organizer before installing the current version.
IMAGES DON'T APPEAR WHEN I VIEW THE FILES IN THE MULTIMEDIA SCREEN SAVER PROGRAM:
To preview the screen saver go to the directory where you saved it and double click
on autorun.exe. Or you may drag and drop the files into the screen saver
folder in the tree browser.
THUMBNAILS ARE TAKING TOO LONG TO IMPORT:
This generally indicates the files you are using are larger than average. If you
still want to use this image you will need to wait until the image appears.
However, if you want to cancel out and use a smaller image, end the task.
To end a task:
1. Hold down the "Ctrl, Alt, Delete" buttons and a window will appear asking you
to select the program you wish to end.
2. Find the Multimedia Organizer item, highlight it then Click End Task button.
This will cause the application to close.
3. Restart the program from your Start Menu.
BLUE SCREEN APPEARS WHEN EJECTING THE CD WHILE PLAYING AN AUDIO OR VIDEO FILE:
This occurs because the program is trying to read from a CD that is no longer
available. If this happens replace the CD back into the drive. If there is still
a blue screen press the Enter button on your keyboard to resume the program.
E-MAIL MESSAGE ALWAYS INCLUDES THEPRINT.PLA :
E-mail message always includes THEPRINT.PLA File. The .PLA file actually includes
basic information about the photo(s) sent as attachments with the e-mail message.
However, it is not necessary to save the file in order to view or use the photo
attachments. Please ask your e-mail recipients simply to ignore the .PLA file.
CANNOT CREATE NEW ALBUM WITHIN EXISTING ALBUM
Multimedia Organizer was not designed with the ability to create "sub-albums".
The workaround for this issue is to create your album normally, and when it is
added to the Albums list, drag it into the existing album of your choice.
NEW CLASSIFICATIONS NOT LISTED ALPHABETICALLY
Restart the program to refresh the classification list. After restarting
Multimedia Organizer, the list will be arranged alphabetically, including
your new classifications.
DON'T KNOW FTP SERVER ADDRESS
Please check with your ISP to find this information. You will need to know the
FTP server address before automatically uploading your web page to the Internet,
so that Multimedia Organizer knows where to send the information. In the
meantime, you can either cancel the publishing operation, or simply publish
your web page to a folder on your local hard drive. (If you do this,
you will need to use another utility to upload the files to the Internet later.)
CONNECTION TIMES OUT BEFORE MESSAGE IS SENT
There are two ways you can work around this difficulty. One is to increase the
timeout length in your e-mail configuration setup, and the other is to connect
to your ISP before trying to send the e-mail message.
To increase the timeout length:
1) Click the Create tab in Multimedia Organizer and Click the E-mail icon.
2) Click the Setup button.
3) Click Next to get to the E-mail Delivery screen.
4) Scroll to the bottom of the Internet Mail options, and click the Advanced
button.
5) Scroll to the bottom of the Advanced options and increase the value in the
Dial-up Connection Timeout field.
(Try doubling the current value).
6) Click OK to return to the configuration wizard.
7) Click Next, then click Finish to return to the Send Electronic Mail dialog.
To connect to your ISP before sending messages use whatever method you would
normally use to connect to your Internet account. Then, when the connection
has been established, return to Multimedia Organizer and create your e-mail
message.
SAVING AN EPS FILE SAVES THE IMAGE IN BLACK & WHITE
Saving an image in EPS always saves the image in black/white. Even though the
original image is color the program is saving in Black & White only. This is
a known limitation of the program and unfortunately doesn't have a work around
at this time.
